  Last year I completed a three month internship with Lloyds Banking Group working mainly in the finance and IT sector. Whilst working for Lloyds I gained many professional skills which will be useful for any current or challenging job role. Examples of these skills are; creating detailed spreadsheets using formulas and ensured all documents are up to date with the correct data for a specific Group Release within the IT frame. I regularly attended meetings in order to discuss the work I was involved in, making sure it was successfully up to date and producing positive outcomes. In this role, I also gained a confident relationship with answering telephone calls and learnt how to remain calm in pressured situations to ensure that the work is carried out to the best standard it can possibly be.   I currently work for the national chain of bookshops Waterstones. This role has enabled me to push forward with my love of literature and use my experience and knowledge to benefit customers that come into the store. I mainly attend to customers, but also focus my skills on arranging and regularly updating the arrangement of the shop floor and displays. I have learnt about the relationships between author, publisher and bookshop, and how the system works so that ultimately, everyone involved is satisfied with how the job is done. Show less

  During my time as an intern I was responsible for responding to each submission we received, reading and reviewing them in order to decide whether or not to pursue them further. From this I created a weekly report which was then forwarded onto my employers. My other responsibilities included contacting authors and publishers, editing documents and making sure all documents and files were up to date, researching specific areas of competition and attending meetings.
