1996 - 2001Master's degree Computer Engineering 95My higher education started in a weird way. I got accepted to Lviv Polytechnic without any exam, based on 2nd place I won at the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine competition in Physics scientific projects. In the second year of my studies I confirmed that Physics is something I was good at by winning Lviv Polytechnic Physics Olympiad. On the 4th year I started working for Polish company providing training services to Ericsson. This is when I fell in love with telecom, which turned to be my life time passion. Master’s thesis on distributed calculations in telecom systems was an unusual subject at that time as it was years before virtualization and cloud would appear as terms in telco. Defending my thesis in English also evoked some controversies, but earned me Degree with Honor at the end. Show less

Jan 2001 - Jul 2003Junior TrainerI started at Leliwa as trainee being trained to become Ericsson consultant, but then things changed on the fly. Company won a contract to become a subcontractor for roll-out of one of the first 3G networks in the world - 3UK. Next year I spent traveling up and down the UK commissioning and integrating 3G eBNs. Looks like I had some talent for this as I quickly became an escalation engineer, i.e. only those sites others failed to get up on air would end up on my list. It was challenging and interesting job where I had to virtually summon people from UK, Germany, Japan to get issues resolved. And let me remind you, there was no Teams or Zoom at that time! Part of my remit also included the preparation of offers and managing pre-sales processes within the company.Interestingly, I was the only member of our bid team fluent in Ukrainian, a unique attribute that proved crucial. Our customer was a state-owned company, necessitating the contract to be in Ukrainian. This responsibility fell to me, and I embraced the challenge of preparing, negotiating, and signing off on the contract. Despite the rigorous process involving many a weekend and sleepless nights, the outcome was worth the effort.Ultimately, I am proud of my contribution to securing a contract for the delivery and deployment of the first-ever 3G network in Ukraine - Utel. This project won me the President's Club Award, the company's top accolade for salespeople.In the realm of strategic relationship management, I guided a customer through the complex transition from 2G to 3G technology amidst fierce competitor attempts to replace Alcatel-Lucent.
