      Intern

Within the legal team (half of my placement):- Became aware of the considerations within multinational businesses, especially when considering the local laws throughout the 6 different continents in which they operate- Looked closely at how NDAs are written as well as the various acts the company must comply with - Helped to promote awareness regarding the Data Protection ActWithin the finance team (half of my placement):- Look at how stocks and shares varied over time, analysing any trends that could be useful to maximise profits- Learned about the concept of netting and how this interlinked with exchange rates, which allowed me to create my own cash flow spreadsheetsTo conclude my internship, I created a presentation to show to some of the employees, about the complications that a multinational company as such would face, and considered how these could be overcome, given what I had learnt throughout my time. The primary focus of this project was to develop the PDF version of the textbook for the Mathematics 1 module for Chemical Engineering, into an online version (Wiki Page). Transferring the content across required use of HTML and LaTeX coding. The decision to create an online version was made based upon student feedback from the academic year 2020-21, which suggested improving some of the pre-existing resources. By doing so, we were able to generate a more interactive learning experience where students can highlight and annotate their notes online, and access them from wherever they are. In addition to the existing notes, we also implemented some additional features such as exercises with solutions and Wolfram Alpha demonstrations. Furthermore, this project allowed greater accessibility for students with various different needs, e.g those who would benefit from digital screen readers. Show less The StudentShapers scheme ensures a student-staff partnership, encouraging equal participation throughout. The aim of this project was to improve the delivery of course content and pre-existing resources to enhance the student learning experience. By analysing the trends in feedback from surveys, it was possible to have some insight into how students thought that the quality of resources could be best adapted to suit their needs. The primary objectives and responsibilities included:- Looking closely at attempt to statistics to determine the difficulty of questions- Seeking relevant resources and adding hints alongside the questions for additional assistance - Adding in questions of varying difficulty to close any knowledge gaps and better align the content to fit the syllabus of the Chemical Engineering Mathematics course- Coding questions and resources into the WebWorks platform (using LaTeX)- Collectively producing a project report to summarise our workAfter the completion of the project, we produced an additional report, featuring a short video about our work, which can be seen here: https://imperialcollegelondon.box.com/s/1zkv9jtg2mh339t9rphfnvnno5sa5j2s Show less
