Maintain contact with community agencies who can provide services to students in order to ensure smooth referral when necessary. Assist with transportation to Durham Technical Community College for students taking sections of the GED or HiSET.Serve as field instructor for MSW student interns, providing increasing areas of responsibility, feedback on projects and client interactions, and reflective opportunities to ensure that the student is meeting field education objectives.Evaluate and modify program as needed to best meet the needs of shifting student population; implement and modify behavior plan and consequences of in-program behavior problems and unexcused absences. Offered psychosocial support to students in order to increase retention and facilitate successful graduation. Recruited, trained, and supported around 50 tutors per semester to individually work with students in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Supervised AmeriCorps members who created individual daily lesson plans for each student. Field supervisor for MSW students, who assisted program participants with community resources. Challenge students to meet their academic and personal goals, which include qualifying for jobs, earning GEDs, and entering vocational or college programs. Help students overcome personal, family, transportation, or lifestyle choice issues impeding their progress. As a support tutor, assist with training small groups of new tutors and serve on a question-and-answer panel during training. Conduct performance evaluations and write detailed reports with suggestions for fine-tuning technique to optimize the tutor's time with students.
