      Feb 2014 - Mar 2018

PhD thesis title: "The role of forces in zebrafish brain morphogenesis"Clarke and Owen LabsWe hypothesise that there is a ‘tug-of-war’ between two columns of neighbouring cells that acts to position them correctly in the developing brain. By cutting the ‘rope’ between cells we can measure how far they ‘fall back’. This gives us an idea of how hard they were pulling on each other.• Four year PhD programme that emphasises multi-disciplinary approaches to biology, including two rotation projects and a work placement• Presented research at national and international conferences and discussed results with leading scientists in the field• Developed skills in both oral and written communication through written reports, posters and PowerPoint presentations Show less
