    • COFELY GDF-SUEZ

      Aug 2011 - May 2015
      Supervisor

Leicester District Energy Company is a sub division of Cofely and a good company to work for. We provide hot water and heating for large parts of Leicester using CHP engines backed up by boilers, mainly gas but some biomass, approximately 14 km of underground pipe work and associated pumps. Every day I’m faced with different challenges I might start the day clean and tidy, sat behind my desk doing COSH sheets or planning the on call rota but things change rapidly and I can find myself doing basic maintenance to a CHP engine to keep it running or servicing boilers, getting contractors in to replace cracked tubes. May 2015 - now

My current role is very varied, in addition to performing maintenance tasks myself I manage subcontractors, examining their RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), issuing work permits, ensuring work is carried out safely and all work areas are in a safe state. I work closely with the Facilities Manager assisting with day to day tasks, energy audits and the regular site audits which are completed by several different organisations, such as Allianz UK and the BRC (British Retail Consortium). Audits normally examine, L8 (Legionella), LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations), PUWER (Provision and Use of Word Equipment Regulations), PPM (Pre Planned Maintenance) and Permit Control.
