      Semilla Nueva is a non-profit fighting malnutrition and poverty in Central America by providing smallholder farmers with better maize seeds. We 1) breed, produce and sell increasingly high-yield, climate-resilient, biofortified maize to farmers at an affordable price, 2) subsidize other seed companies to produce and sell these seeds at a low cost, and 3) work with Central American governments to scale these activities. Through this approach, our seeds improve farmers’ incomes and the nutrition of their families and hundreds of thousands of maize consumers.
