  I joined Haswell Consulting Engineers (wholly owned by Severn Trent Water plc) in 1989 and progressed through Senior and Principal roles to become Group Engineer for Strategy Planning in 2000. I developed and led a team of 30 engineers and modellers undertaking strategic planning and detailed design of water and sewerage networks and treatment works for most of the UK water companies.

  Honorary Vice President

  I was President of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management in 2008/9 and since then hold the title of Past President and Honorary Vice President and continue to be an active member and representative of this Institution. CIWEM is the foremost Institution for professionals working in Water and Environmental Management with over 10,000 members working over 100 countries. Our Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (C.WEM) is the only professional qualification that embraces all aspects of water and environmental management and we also grant Chartered Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Scientist status on individuals that are able to satisfy the experiential learning and professional competencies required by our Royal Charter. I lead the Institution's UK Junior Water Prize (formerly Tomorrow's Water) which is the UK heat of the International and prestigious 'Stockholm Junior Water Prize' which is competed for by over 30 countries each year.   Ludlow Philharmonic Prize Fund

  Trustee and Chair of the Trustee Board

  I have been a Trustee of the Ludlow Philharmonic Prize Fund since 2005 and took over the Chair of the Trustees from the Fund's founder, John Ludlow in 2014. The Trust holds the funds and awards prize money for the Birmingham Philharmonic Concerto Prize competition, which is run as a partnership between the Birmingham Conservatoire, the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ludlow Philharmonic Prize Fund . The Concerto Prize is one of the Birmingham Conservatoire's top prizes and gives the best students of the Conservatoire the opportunity to perform an instrumental concerto of their choice with full orchestral accompaniment in competition for a prize fund of £1,500. The Competition takes place at the Birmingham Conservatoire in April each year. Show less

  I was a Governor of Millfields First School in Bromsgrove from September 2000 until September 2015 and was Chair of the Governing Body from September 2008. In that time I was responsible for the appointment of two head teachers and three deputy head teacher and oversaw the growth of the School Roll from approximately 135 to 260. I was also directly involved in three Ofsted Inspections.

  Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition

  Trustee and Deputy Chairman

  I am Deputy Chairman of the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition and a Trustee. The Competition is run in partnership with Bromsgrove School and is a world-leading competition for international students to compete for a £6,000 prize in front of a distinguished panel of judges. The Competition is open to Musicians aged 18 to 25 (28 for singers). In parallel with this we have a Junior Competition - The Bromsgrove Young Musicians Platform which is open for UK based students aged 10 between 10 and 17 living in the Central Midlands, within a 30 mile radius of the centre of Birmingham.   I am a Director of Future Water Association and my business, H2O WEM Ltd is a Trade Association Member. I became a Director upon the rebranding of the Association from the Society of British Water and Wastewater Industries and was directly involved in the selection of the new branding and establishment of new Articles of Association as well as setting the future strategy of the Association. I am responsible for the Innovation Hub which seeks to advance innovation within the water sector supply chain and to help our members bring their innovations to the attention of water sector leaders. I am also closely involved in the Young Water Dragons and 'Skills for the Future' initiatives which are directly addressing the looming skills shortage faced by the sector and the need to attract the attention of very best talent to take the sector forward in the 21st Century.
