I believe job titles are created by human beings, and as a recruiter, we need to identify the core in someone and then match this person with the most-fit roles.   I am taking a sabbatical to finishing up my PHD with Ashridge-Hult International Business School. I explore deep trust relationship between managers and staff in China, adopting Action Research Methodology. I expand current research on organization trust in China with rich personal experience as a female manager situated in personal, organizational and macro changes. I suggest that a manager's sincere expression of vulnerability, caring for staff, and lengh/frequency of interactions are important to deep trust between manager and staff in a hierarchical culture. Additionally, I propose that a woman leader's self-compassion facilitates deep trust because it helps move beyond a culture that values relentless self-improvement and "eating bitterness." A heartfelt trust is developed in mutual caring and mutual sharing, in which a manager is not only respected as a "teacher" or a "mentor" but also liked as a "friend."
