  I was fortunate enough to travel across Asia, meeting broadcast customers and STB hardware partners in order to promote our company and software technology into new markets. I negotiated and defined stakeholder requirements for several broadcast customers, based in China, Indonesia and Taiwan, working with our local hardware partner companies to successfully expand NDS' access to these Asian markets.Part of my role involved technical troubleshooting to keep the projects on track. I was able to employ and illustrate the types of skills and experiences that these local manufacturing partner companies needed to assimilate for on-going success.As much of the software was developed by colleagues in India and Korea another aspect of my role was to ensure complete comprehension of the customer software branding and functional needs which resulted in the successful delivery of these projects. Show less I developed and integrated embedded software for some of the first digital broadcast consumer products to be deployed around the world. This experience provided the foundation for my later success in software project management as it gave me an appreciation of complexity, timescale and costs involved.I evaluated and recommended the latest devices which our company should use to easily support our software product deployments around the world. I gathered an excellent understanding of how various devices helped and hindered the time market of our projects and acted as a consultant to our customers on technology choices. Show less

  I worked with a European cable broadcaster to define, develop and deploy a range of digital set-top box (STB) consumer products, worth a total of over $80M, with additional software enhancements and features, to tight deadlines and using new technology. Features include high definition services, VOD functionality and transcoding from the STB to hand held devices.In consultation with the customer, third party hardware partners and internal India based software developers, I identified and handled risks, issues and change requests. In addition, I expedited critical defect fixes for faster product deployment.One example, amongst many, is that I negotiated, implemented and delivered a new cable digital STB with record capability, including customer branding to a tight 3.5 month timescale to meet the Christmas consumer product launch sales opportunity. Another example is the addition of IP STBs into the customer’s product range. This was a technically challenging deployment for which I clarified both the requirements and the solution seeing it through to a successful deployment, which opened up a new B2B opportunity for the customer to sell their broadcast content to local ISP businesses.
