    • Imerys

      May 2012 - Aug 2012
      Geology intern

      • Determined potential quality of rocks in future mining campaigns. • Conducted geologic testing of future mining prospects by cutting, crushing, and analyzing sample cores from a marble quarry to ascertain vital properties such as color and purity • Assisted in interpreting data acquired from core studies to suggest future resource management proposals, actions, and projects. • Presented analysis as well as my experiences with the internship and what I had learned to supervisors and senior staff of the company. May 2014 - Aug 2014
      Geology intern

      • Performed field investigations including: mapping formations and structures; conducting sample reviews, data collection, and entry; and blocking model calculations on copper and molybdenum ore. Conducted data analysis and interpretation to determine where the most viable areas to mine were, and which processes the resulting ore would subsequently undergo. • Collected, analyzed, and entered Blast Hole and Ball Mill Work Index (BMWI) samples for geologic modeling and ore control and processing predictions. Interpreted data acquired from core studies and geologic investigations to recommend future ore management and processing. • Participated in daily mine planning and operations meetings. Show less

      Jun 2015 - Jan 2016
      Technical professional/qaqc tech

      • Ensured quality control and adherence to technical and environmental specifications on the installation of a new heap leach facility at an open pit gold mine.• Monitored the deployment of the pit’s liner, conducted quality investigations on the liner seams, tested for destruction resilience using destructive testing methods on seams as well as samples of liner every 1000 feet. Preformed vital physical inspection of liner for rock punctures and other flaws in need of repair—if the seams or the structure of the liner fail, the leaching chemicals can escape and potentially contaminate the environment around the facility, including animal and plant life as well as water used by nearby towns, and threaten the operation of the mine and legal repercussions. • Performed laboratory testing on geological features including the testing of soil and clay for levels of moisture and elasticity.• Observed covering of liner with the first 3 feet of rock (Drain Cover Fill) that will comprise the base of the leach pad. This rock protects the liner from the ore as it is loaded onto the leach pad and more evenly distributes the weight of the ore to prevent punctures. • Participated in daily safety and operations meetings.
