  The Foreign Languages Department (FLD) at Bezmialem Vakif University (BVU) is structured around three core programs, each designed to meet the diverse linguistic needs of the student body. These include Academic English Preparatory Program, a General English Program tailored for students enrolled in the Higher Vocational School of Health Services, and the specialized English for Medical Purposes (EMP) Program.Program Description: The EMP Program is specifically designed to cater to the academic and professional language requirements of students across various health disciplines. It serves students from the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Pharmacy, and the School of Health Sciences. Within the School of Health Sciences, the program supports departments such as Nursing, Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Health Management. My Role: As the Assistant Director of the FLD, I founded the EMP program at BVU in 2012 - 2013 academic year. My responsibilities included designing curricula, preparing course syllabi, overseeing the testing office, and hiring, training, and monitoring instructors new to the field of EMP.From the 2013–2014 academic year, I launched pioneering online medical terminology courses as part of the EMP program, marking a first in Turkey. Since its inception, the FLD at BVU has engaged in collaborations with Pearson Higher Education, Cengage Learning, F.A. Davis, and McGraw Hill as solution partners. In my capacity as the EMP program coordinator, I was tasked with coordinating the relationships between the university and these companies.Beyond my contributions to the EMP program, I also supervised the online general English courses offered at the Higher Vocational School of Health Services, ensuring a high standard of education and support for our students.
