Both SFMC and Penrose Hospital converted to LED lighting which not only reduced electrical use but also decreased the maintenance cost of replacing the bulbs more frequently. As part of the expansion we have added a new boiler and chiller that will allow us to further increase energy efficiency. All of these changes helped increase efficiency to meet the Energy Star requirements. For 2017, SFMC is the only hospital in Colorado that is certified. Energy Star-certified buildings and plants use, on average, 35 percent less energy than similar buildings nationwide. Increasing energy efficiency and reducing operational cost ties directly to our CRISSIE values and truly measures the skills and knowledge of our Facilities staff. Show less
