  I was indentured as an PLT apprentice with BC Hydro for 3.5 years. Upon graduating I took a PLT position in Surrey district. From there I also moved to the shift/trouble position for a year. My final two years were spent at Surrey Construction where I was a subforeman in charge of a four to five person crew. During my time at BC Hydro I found it most rewarding to help with apprentice training both onsite and in the office where i could assist them with all their learning needs.

  As a subforeman I was responsible for a 3 person crew. Most of my time was spent on project work on the road doing 21 days on and 7 off. The distance work allowed me to hone my ability to be managed remotely and to do my reporting via email.

  As a subforeman I was in direct responsibility for a 3 person crew. I set up permits, organised day to day and week to week work for my crew. I worked with third party contractors such as TCP's, hydro excavators. As an industry enhancement project I volunteered two hours a week after work hours to train apprentices with regards to their theory and what ever they felt they were lacking.

  Where to start?.... I am a lucky "fence-sitter" in that I still get to go out on the crews and ply my trade that I have been a part of for 20 years now!!(how did the time go so fast??) I also get to expand myself and design and reformat work practices, participate in inspections, facilitate new procedures, train workers (one of my favourite things to do btw), complete investigations, track training....and about a thousand other tasks that I enjoy.
