Nov 1998 - Apr 2000Troop CommanderResponsible for commanding, training and administering a 45 strong troop of soldiers and a mixture of armoured and wheeled vehicles based in Germany. On operations in Macedonia and Kosovo, ran the day-to-day administration and defence of a 150 strong brigade headquarters; including the tactical movement and sighting of the 30+ vehicles that made up the headquarters.

Jan 2000 - Jan 2003Platoon CommanderResponsible for commanding, training and administering a Rifle and Assault Pioneer Platoon in the UK and on operations in Northern Ireland and Sierra Leone. When required, also deputised for the Operations Officer on operations in Belfast during periods of leave. Planned and coordinated the training of the Battalion’s fire crews for Operation FRESCO (to cover the Fire Brigade strikes in Glasgow) and acted as a Liaison Officer between the Army fire crews and Strathclyde Police.

Apr 2003 - Aug 2004Directing StaffTraining and development of young officers straight from Sandhurst who were embarking on a career in the Infantry. A mixture of tactical and procedural instruction delivered in austere and taxing environments from South Wales to Kenya. The focus was on delivering capable and competent junior officers to command soldiers in the Field Army, some of whom would have deployed on operation in Afghanistan and Iraq immediately after the course.

Aug 2004 - Sept 2005AdjutantResponsible for the maintenance of discipline and personnel administration of a 600 strong light role infantry battalion. The principle personnel staff officer for the Commanding Officer focused on ensuring that the Battalion was manned with the correctly qualified staff, while ensuring the manning considerations of training and recruiting establishments were maintained.

Sept 2005 - Sept 2006Company Commander, HQ CompanyResponsible for commanding, training and administering of 160 personnel who support the day-to-day administration and logistical support for the remainder of the Battalion. The main focus was to ensure that all the departments were conducting their mandated training for operations while performing their day jobs. On operations acted as the Battle Group Logistic Officer, responsible for all the logistical planning for the Battle Group; from casualty evacuation to general resupplies.

Sept 2006 - Aug 2008Senior Group LeaderAn integral member of the staff assessing the potential of candidates looking to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst; from applicants for the main course, through those for Welbeck College, to lawyers and members of the clergy. In charge of the day-to-day running of the assessments while making evidence based assessments on groups of 8 candidates. As Senior Group Leader held the additional responsibility of attending management boards to represent the views of fellow Group Leaders focused on enhancing the processes within the AOSB. Apr 2011 - May 2013Currently conducting resettlement courses and researching career opportunities for my departure from the forces in May 13. Responsible for commanding, training and administering a fire support company of 180 men within a UK based light role infantry battalion. On operations act as the ISTAR (intelligence, surveillance and target acquisition) manager for the Battle Group. Tasked with identifying gaps in our surveillance capability then requesting and controlling the allocated assets to ensure mission success.
