  The purpose of H.E.A.R.T. is to collaboratively combine the expertise and resources of multiple professionals, agencies, and communities to improve interventions for children and families. Through the creation of an early warning “handle with care” alert between Law Enforcement, Children Services and local school districts, H.E.A.R.T. is able to provide timely and valuable information about concerned youth that otherwise would go undetected and unreported.

  2024 John A Zottola Mental Health and Justice Award Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency Apr 2024 Chief of Police Charles T. Streightiff of the Huntingdon Borough Police Department was a recipient of this award for his commitment to working with the community to better the lives of our children. He is the founder of an early response handle with care program that identifies youth who may have experienced a traumatic event and is a leading force in establishing a Child Advocacy Center within Huntingdon County to better serve the mental health needs of children.
