  I took up a research and volunteer program for 45 days in Egypt, 'Novel techniques for the physical and mental development in students with Cerebral Palsy' (MOVE Foundation) through a student body organization called AIESEC (Association internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales). I worked closely with the kids between the ages of 3 to 19 in Egypt to learn their current methods of teaching and establish newer techniques while monitoring their response to the motor control sprinting exercises, muscle and joint pain management, music and art sessions, etc. Show less

  I worked 30 days in a clinical laboratory in Kamineni Hospital under Dr. Guruprasad titled 'Polymorphisms in IL-4 and their effects on Tuberculosis patients'. I performed basic laboratory duties like PCR, RFLP, ELISA, etc.

  Research Assistant Intern

  For my 6 months Bachelor's thesis final year project, I worked in my University's Ageing Department under the guidance of Dr. K.P Guruprasad on 'Influence of Bacopa monnieri on the Behavior in Alzheimer's model of Drosophila melanogaster' which involved the rearing of Drosophila flies. I covered Neuroscience, Ayurvedic medicine, and the use of animal models to study pathogenesis for the same. A review manuscript on 'Metabolic Alterations in Alzheimer's Disease' was submitted to Frontier Neurology. The project included the study of Alzheimer's in-depth - causes, predisposition, the factors acting as hallmarks, and the pathogenesis affecting the mortality rate. Cognitive dysfunction, memory loss, locomotory dysfunction, and behavioral degeneration are a few of the key characteristics monitored in the Drosophila flies. This undergraduate course has equipped me with the right tools to step into a Master's program and specialize in Genetics and Genomics. Show less

  Advanced Diploma

  I am currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in General Biotechnology by working full time in a laboratory in Azyme Biosciences. This Diploma has proven to be useful to strengthen my basic skills including microscopy, microbial biotechnology, in a practical wet laboratory, and further enabled me to perfect my skills to practically apply the theoretical knowledge I possess. This Diploma consists of seven core modules with individual experiments ranging from the basics like PCR, RFLP, microbiology, etc., to more intricate techniques including the DNA, RNA isolation, immunology experiments like protein assays, instrumentation (Gas Chromatography and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). I am currently working on a module involving 'Phytochemical Analysis of an endemic species of Lemon obtained from Assam (North-Eastern state in India) called Kazi Nemu (Citrus limon)' which is known to have medical benefits like building immunity, preventing kidney stones, anti-diabetic properties, etc. My future work entails me to perform anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory assays regarding the respective characteristics of the peel of Kazi Nemu. Following these studies, I aim to publish a research paper on the same co-authoring it with the members of the faculty at Azyme Biosciences. Along with the six modules, I will also perform a project which can be applicable for a research article or review article for a peer-reviewed publication. Show less
