During the time I was working there as a Medical Social Worker under the Medical Social Welfare Department, I performed the following duties:- Repatriation of stranded discharged clients.- Psychosocial Counseling services.- Referral of client to the available suitable community services such as NGOs, Ministry of Community Development and Social Services etc, off course after a thorough assessment of the client.- Rehabilitation Aid; helping clients whose leg(s) were amputated to organize an artificial leg or wheel chair etc.- Socioeconomic Assessment for full/partial exemption of medical fees.- Tracing of patient's relatives in the situation where the patient has no bedsider.- Helping clients to obtain burial permits in the situation where they do no know and also engage the council to organize burials for un identified bodies that happen to over stay in the mortuary.
