This led to an increase in strategic relationships between community colleges and the university and increased applications from underrepresented community college students. ~ Reimagined and managed the operational activities of the Summer Bridge Transitional Programs and facilitated the summer seminar for the program, focusing on college transition and academic readiness, which resulted in greater persistence from first to second year. ~ Tracked the progress of Summer Bridge program participants to provide intentional support and intervention if necessary. ~ Managed, directed, coordinated and implemented the annual Educational Opportunity Program Endowed Scholarship Fundraiser, the largest annual scholarship fundraiser. Raised approximately $300,000 for the scholarship fund, more than a 50 percent increase in revenue, with the event to be underwritten by Wells Fargo in the following year. Providing leadership for the initiative, the male empowerment network was designed to offer academic support, insight on co-curricular activities, academic and student support resources, and peer mentoring opportunities in collaboration with Mentor Collective concentrating on new incoming men. ~ Created the National Student Success Conference Speakers Series. In the height of the pandemic, the Speakers Series was created to advance student success initiatives and programs at various institutions throughout the country. The series is hosted monthly in the spring semester with higher education thought leaders and practitioners. Each is a one-hour virtual session focused on sharing research and/or proven practices to help leaders advance students' success at their institution.~ Created in partnership with colleagues across campus with regulation and policy development experience, a university-wide survey policy. The policy is developed to establish a consistent process for managing surveys to ensure they are conducted in a manner that enhance the benefits of surveys; minimize redundancy, survey fatigue, and frequency of surveys; and follows guidelines for survey implementation ensuring surveys will be conducted in a manner that are consistent with ethical considerations of all campus constituents.~ Serve as project manager for university-wide initiatives aligned with the university’s strategic plan and has broad-based support across the institution for the University's Quality Enhancement Plan and Advancing Latino Access and Success (ALAS) Task Force established to develop strategies to increase enrollment and degree completion rates while identifying challenges and opportunities unique to Latino students. Show less ~ Manage and serve as the Student Success/Student Affairs liaison for the Annual Florida Equity Report since 2009. These responsibilities entail coordinating with various Student Success colleagues across all three campuses, and writing the narratives for the report that provides an analysis of equity regarding undergraduate enrollment, persistence, graduation, diversity, financial support, employment and co-curricular activities. The University of South Florida conducts an annual review of equity as required by Florida Statute. In this report, academic and student support services are assessed of which, Student Success is responsible for approximately one-half of the content. ~ Designed the male student success initiative that was created to provide incoming and continuing male students with tools for success as they navigate the academic and university environment with the goal of closing the gender completion gap. ~ Developed and chaired the Male Student Success Persistence Subcommittee focusing on intentional initiatives to close the gender achievement gap at the university. ~ Developed, implemented, coordinated and provided leadership and oversight for the inaugural National Student Success Conference: Innovation and Innovators, which included 300 participants from institutions from around the country, 25 workshops over a two-and-a-half-day period. Responsibilities included: Chair of the Advisory Programming Committee; managed the request for proposal process, selection of event consultant, primary contact for event consultant, coordination of conference logistics; recruitment and invitations to potential facilitators, review and selection of workshop facilitators; organization of conference volunteers; briefings with the vice president and other leaders; and conference close-out and reporting. Show less ~ Managed the Student Affairs wide strategic planning, reviewing, revision, monitoring and evaluation process in which the Division created a five-year plan and worked with each of the 23 departments to establish departmental strategic plans that aligned with the Division and University strategic goals. All departments are currently functioning under their own strategic plans. ~ Revised and manage the Student Affairs regulations and policies review, revision, and development process. The purpose of regulations and policies is to protect the integrity of the university’s mission and operations, while supporting the management of major institutional risks. These regulations and policies from Student Affairs inform the community and other university partners about the major risks that the university seeks to address and communicate in various key areas, while promoting compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. ~ Chaired the Planning & Assessment Team that developed, reviewed and revised the Student Affairs Strategic and Long-Range Plans and recommended a credible, yet manageable assessment plan/program of student learning outcomes, student affairs/services, and administrative arms of Student Affairs. The purpose of these assessments is to ensure continuous improvement of student learning and the functioning of administrative offices. This function of assessment is also a requirement of the Board of Governors and the accrediting body, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, SACSCOC.~ Provided leadership for the Student Affairs CAS Professional Standards for Higher Education departmental program review to assess programs and services in the context of nationally accepted guidelines, standards, and benchmarks. The departments will complete a program review once during a five-year cycle. ~ Appointed as the Student Affairs SACSCOC narrative writer for the 5-year reaffirmation and 10-year reaccreditation processes. Show less ~ Created process for the development, coordination and organization of the recruitment and yield initiatives for prospective first time in college students, and first-generation and high potential college students from underserved populations. This was a new initiative that resulted in increased applications from underserved populations and an increase in yield. ~ Created and implemented a review and admission process for the Freshman Summer Institute/Summer Bridge and Student Support Services programs. Historical data was collected to review the number of applicants, admits, and yield. The total number of participants in both programs was approximately 200. After review, the applicant pool became stronger, and the number of applicants and admits slightly increased. The Student Support Services programs continues and is offered each summer for incoming first-generation, low socioeconomic students. ~ Redefined the university’s welcome center to ensure a comprehensive campus visit experience for prospective students and families both individually and for specialized groups. This revised structure included an introduction to USF through a video presentation prior to the start of the program, an admissions information session, student panel, and walking campus tour,~ Restructured and managed the Admissions call center with oversight for Admissions, Financial Aid and the Registrar’s Office inbound calls. The restructure included strategic training and realignment of vision and goals for managing calls in a productive, timely, and efficient manner. Show less
