This project is the onlycurrent industrial wastewater plant within NWC with design capacity of 50,000 m3/day. Accomplishment:• Managed multidisciplinary contractors at site.• Collaborated with the design team to verify its compliance with specification.• Supervised the construction of various concrete structures (equalisation tank, aeration/anoxic tanks, clarifiertanks), installation of pipes and mechanical equipment (blowers, scum scrapers, oil separators, sludgedewatering systems, membrane bioreactors modules, pumps and sand filters).• Commissioning wastewater treatment plants Show less

My doctoral research focused on the analytical assessment ofdissolved organic nitrogen in industrial wastewater treatment plants, where I collected samples andanalysed them for various physicochemical properties and specific compounds. I also conductedbioavailability and toxicity tests to investigate the effects of glucosamine, chitin, and industrialwastewater treatment plant effluent. The results of this thesis confirmed the importance of consideringorganic nitrogen concentrations in industrial wastewater effluent for compliance purposes, however, italso showed that identifying the sources of DON can lead operators and WWTP designers to developbetter strategies and techniques to enhance nitrogen removal efficiency as well as to develop resourcesrecovery techniques and creating opportunities for circularity of materials and reutilizing nutrients backinto the production processes.
