The first stage consisted of a virtual challenge where our team demonstrated our expertise against participants from the Middle East and North Africa region.After successfully winning the initial virtual stage, our Sultan Qaboos University team is set to compete in the in-person competition being held… Show more As part of the Sultan Qaboos University team, I recently competed in the PetroBowl Regional Qualifiers, a prestigious multi-stage competition focused on oil and gas industry knowledge. The first stage consisted of a virtual challenge where our team demonstrated our expertise against participants from the Middle East and North Africa region.After successfully winning the initial virtual stage, our Sultan Qaboos University team is set to compete in the in-person competition being held this month in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. There, we will go up against the top 10 university teams from the MENA region, further showcasing our deep understanding of the oil and gas sector. This experience has allowed us to benchmark our technical knowledge against some of the brightest minds in the industry, and I can't wait to see where this journey could lead me! Show less

This prototype includes the following… Show more In 2023, I participated in the ADIPEC university program, where my team and I discussed the Reflections on the Impact of COP on the Oil and Gas Industry: Opportunities and Challenges. Our in-depth knowledge of net-zero goals and each country's contributions towards achieving them fueled our efforts to find solutions to help reach those targets.As part of the program, I created a prototype of an ideal green field that could be implemented in Oman. This prototype includes the following key components:- GHG Emissions Sensor: A sensor designed to monitor the greenhouse gas emissions level of the field and trigger an alarm when the level exceeds the maximum allowable limit. This would increase accountability and awareness around emissions.- Solar Panels and/or Wind Energy Generation: Solar panels are particularly suitable due to their ease of deployment. Oman's Dhofar region is also home to the first industrial-scale wind farm in the Middle East.- Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Stations: These stations would facilitate the re-injection of captured carbon into abandoned wells for storage.- Trees Surrounding the Field: Mature trees can absorb over 48 pounds of CO2 per year, meaning they can sequester approximately 1 ton of carbon dioxide by the time they reach 40 years old.- EV Charging Stations: To support the use of electric vehicles within the field.This prototype aimed to address the challenges and seize the opportunities presented by the global push towards net-zero emissions in the oil and gas industry.
