      Work Experience

      With Balfour Beatty I was granted access to their infamous Hindhead Tunnel site for a few days. During my time I became part of the office and was assigned to different members of the team each day. I shadowed varying team members from land surveyors, quantity surveyors, junior engineers, senior engineers and head engineer. Individually they took me out on site and demonstrated their role in the current project.

      Work Experience

      With Sir Robert McAlpine I was granted access to their construction site of the new Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Over the week I sat in on design meetings, staff meetings and management meetings. I was also granted site tours by engineers of varying seniority including the project manager whom all demonstrated their role in the project. The quantity surveyors also demonstrated how to write and put out a tender.

Now I am regularly hold the position as a silver service waiter in the executive suites and boxes and have on occasion managed my own box.

      Accepted onto a summer exchange programme specifically for engineers looking to widen their knowledge and enhance their skills abroad.On top of Chinese language classes we were given a manufacturing project. The aim was to learn how to use high tech. technology we would not normally have access to produce a product. All the machinery we learned to use was automated, the purpose being to understand the machinery used in mass production. - We took the project from the initial design phase on AutoCAD- 3D printed a prototype- Copied product onto Mill9 AutoCAM software- Wrote a programme to produce each section of our product- Used various automated machinery such as mills, lathes, lazer cutters etc. to produce each section of our product- We then assembled and critiqued ours and others work Show less

      Participated in international student design competition for the Timber Research and Development Association.In a multi-discipline team of 4 we were required to follow a brief to design a multi-use timber structure for the Sylva Wood Foundation. The several month process required an in depth, whole life cycle design of the structure as well as numerous 3D renderings and physical models.We reached the final where we presented our project to a judging panel of professionals.
