      Chief Executive Officer

Youth Development Australia Ltd (YDA) is public benevolent institution created by a group of leading thinkers and practitioners in the youth field as a platform for change for young people especially those most disadvantaged by family or community circumstances. The three core activities of YDA are: 1. Create and trial innovative and pioneering projects for young people; 2. Inform policy debate though think-tanks, conferences, and National Youth Commission Inquiries on youth issues of national significance;3. Provide opportunities for young people to develop creative ideas and achieve their full potential.Youthworx Media is Youth Development Australia’s most successful demonstration project . YouthWorx aims to assist young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to achieve education, training or employment outcomes, with the ultimate aim of assisting young people to develop pathways out of homelessness, and/or to maintain independent living. The program offers an ‘access’ component whereby young people can engage in activities or short projects without a further longer-term commitment. A more structured accredited training program is provided at Certificate I, II, and III levels and this is highly successful. Youthworx also has a social enterprise component providing a social business specialising in producing engaging, informative and entertaining television, video and multimedia products including;- Live Event Coverage- Promotional & Training DVDs- Documentary Production- Video Web Casts- Music Video Production- Digital Storytelling WorkshopsThe Youthworx program is also part of a large-scale research effort to research all aspects of this innovative development. Swinburne’s Institute for Social Research is a partner responsible for this component. Show less
