    • The Daily Reveille

      Aug 2013 - May 2014
      Editor in Chief

Managed a staff of more than 90 student workers. Balancing school work while also running a daily, student-run newspaper. Made decisions about the coverage given to stories as well as personnel decisions like hiring and payroll.Focused exclusively on updating the newspaper's design so that it had a more reader-friendly layout. This included more graphic elements and reader-submitted content in our print edition of the paper. I also put more of a focus on our publication's web presence, hiring a social media coordinator and building our Twitter following from around 8,000 followers to nearly 12,000 -- a number that exceeds other comparatively sized college newspapers in the country. During my time as editor, The Daily Reveille was awarded best all-around daily student newspaper and best affiliated website in the Society of Professional Journalism's Region 12 Mark of Excellence Awards. The paper went on to compete for the honor nationally with papers from the other eleven regions. Show less
