  I started my placement working in the UK and Ireland Field Marketing team. I quickly had to learn a lot about the company, the business unites and the products CA has to offer. A Major part of my role was event planning and organising. I attended and ran events from small user groups to large corporate conferences. I learnt quickly how important it is to be organized, learning key project management and leadership skills. I also gained training on the tool ‘Marketo’ where I built and ran my own campaigns. Alongside this I also used Salesforce to allocate and cross check leads to the sales teams, encouraging the follow up and managing expectations of the teams. Show less My next department was EMEA Communications, I worked directly under the VP Communications. My role enabled me to work not only with the UKI team but also on an EMEA level, giving me great exposure to different cultures and ways of working. I learnt and grew so much in this period, working with Managers all the way up to the EMEA President. Some of my key highlight were:• Working closely with our media agency Catalysis, learning about Social reach and social media best practices on twitter and LinkedIn. • I worked heavily with CA CSR program ‘Create Tomorrow’. I ran and managed events and promoted internally and externally the importance of inspiring the next generation! • I helped organise a variety of events on a UK/EMEA/Global level. I project managed The Tech Partnership ‘ITMB South Event’ held at the CA offices for over 300 students. I was also a project manager for the ‘EMEA Employee Kick-Off’ held in Barcelona. This is an internal event broadcasted out to over 2000 employees.• I was given an amazing opportunity to further improve my social media skills and present to the SVP of France about the importance of LinkedIn and how his teams can better use it for personal and company gains. Show less While in sales I worked across BU in the Agile Operations, Security and Agile Management (Agile Central and PPM- Project and Portfolio Management) teams. I gained an understanding of the full sales cycle from initial contact to close of deals. I have put together sales campaigns, cold called potential opportunities, used social media to engage with new and existing opportunities and supported the various sales team in producing pipeline. I have completed social selling training and training on mapping out opportunities on how to grow and develop new and existing pipeline. Alongside this I attended customer meetings from net new to existing, giving me a real insight into problem solving, relationship building and management. Show less
