      (A degree-granting community college with two satellite campuses in rural communities; total budget of $60+ million with 600 FTE employees.)Scope of Position:*Responsible for all financial, technological, capital, and contractual matters of the College (e.g. Accounting Services, Computer Services, Facilities, Capital Planning and Construction, Ancillary Services, Institutional Budgets, Materials Management, Risk Management, Union negotiations, Supplier Contracts, Government Funding Agency negotiations). *Over 100 reports (through directors and managers)*Non-voting member of Board of GovernorsHighlights and key achievements:• Transformed the institution’s antiquated finance systems and processes by implementing a new streamlined, integrated on-line system for requisitions/purchasing/payables/payments, with publicized and understandable policies and procedures. • Working with the President and VP Academic, created an Institutional Plan from the Strategic Plan which provided the roadmap for day-to-day activities, e.g. no budget changes (additions, transfers, or reductions) were considered unless they addressed at least two points in the Institutional Plan. This proved to be highly successful: within two years of implementing the plan, all activities within the College were aligned with the Strategic Plan.• Established and negotiated joint venture contracts with Universities in Asia, South America and Lebanon, bringing in more than $4 million annual revenue to the institution. • As one of the three-person Employers’ team in 2001, successfully bargained the salaries & benefits for the 10,000 faculty members in the B.C. The Faculty is geographically distributed throughout the entire province of British Columbia (serving a 365,000 square mile area equivalent in size to France, Germany, and the Netherlands combined), with four university sites, 13 major Clinical Academic sites, over 80 minor Clinical sites, and is under the jurisdiction of two Government ministries and four universities.)Scope of Position: Finance: $500+m annual budget, 20 direct reports, 80 indirect / dotted line reports IT: Two portfolios (Technology Enabled Learning and traditional IT Operations) with 80 reports Facilities Development & Utilization: 12 reports overseeing 1.5 million square feet International: One direct report Communications: Six direct reports, 20 dotted line reportsKey Accomplishments and Highlights:• Achieved successful integration of Finance, IT, and Facilities, enabling a coordinated approach to the allocation of scarce resources.• Working with University administration and all levels of government, successfully negotiated and secured operating and capital funding for the creation of two new Facilities ($30 million and $20 million) to establish a fourth distributed site in Kelowna, BC, and then successfully oversaw the implementation, project management and opening of the facilities.• Negotiated and/or maintained international academic relationships, including new exchange programs, with three of China’s top Universities: Peking University (Beijing), Fudan University (Shanghai), and Zhejiang University (Hangzhou). Other Chinese universities included the Chongqing Medical University, Capital Medical University (Beijing), and Sun Yat-Sen University (Guangzhou). Show less
