    • State of Connecticut Elections Enforcement Commission

      May 2010 - Aug 2010
      Intern

I worked at the State of Connecticut Elections Enforcement Commission during the summer of 2010. I compiled data regarding different candidates into a statewide database used to determine a candidate’s eligibility to campaign and/or receive government-sponsored funding for the campaign. I also developed the agency’s Threat Assessment Team, a team trained to prevent and/or deal with emergency situations by establishing a system of emergency protocols to be used by both the Threat Assessment Team and the individual employees. These emergency protocols involved creating a database of emergency contact information for all of the agencies in the building, evacuation procedures, bomb threat protocol, and the distribution of information regarding various emergency scenarios among the members of the Threat Assessment Team. • State of Connecticut Office of the Victim Advocate

      May 2011 - Aug 2011
      Intern

I worked at the Office of the Victim Advocated during the summer of 2011. I compiled data from the 50 states regarding the status of “Caylee’s Law” in the 50 states, “Caylee’s Law” being the legal community’s reaction to the outcome of the Casey Anthony case. Caylee’s Law is a law which would make a failure to report a missing child illegal. I reached out to various leaders in CT to find out their view on the law, and to assess the reaction to the law by the state of CT. I completed 50 state surveys of the policies regarding restraining orders and their enforcers, budgets, access, and restrictions. I compiled multiple criminal histories, researched cases, found cases in which OVA (Office of the Victim Advocate) may be able to reach out to victims, etc. I completed a research project regarding the domestic violence deaths in CT in the last 10 years. I went to many local courts to accompany victims and to inform them on their rights. Show less

    • United States Embassy in Lisbon

      Jun 2012 - Aug 2012
      Intern

I worked in the U.S. Commercial Service this summer reporting to the Embassy’s Commercial Counselor. During my time there, I wrote economic briefings, and compiled a book on Embassy structure, Portuguese-American relations, and Portuguese culture, politics, economy, and social structure. I did market research, wrote business proposals for American companies and presented them to Portuguese companies, and acted as a liaison between Portuguese and American companies. One of my projects led to the opening of five franchised stores in Portugal for a company that had not previously had a presence in Europe. I helped to organize numerous events for the Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission, including the cultural agenda for a group of U.S. Representatives and their spouses when they visited Portugal. During their visit, I was charged with planning two days’ worth of cultural immersion and developing a budget for the tour. I also aided in the organization and realization of a visit to the Embassy by a group of Fortune 50 Americans and Portuguese scientists, musicians, academics, and artists. Show less
