  IT Trainee

  Computing graduate role that involves project managing a multitude of network and infrastructure upgrade projects, such as facilitating the installation of Power Over Ethernet (PoE) switches and VoIP to the site. During the role I’ve dealt with suppliers in order to bring a managed print service contract to the site to reduce cost, improve quality, adhere to compliance set by regulatory authorises as well unifying the printer fleet and consolidating devices that were under used or failing. This has meant that the business has a stable printing platform and are able to rely on the Multi-Functional Devices (MFD) that have been installed site wide to assist with their job roles and provide the customer with professional looking documentation. In order to deploy all the new MFD’s at GE Wales, I had to manage a team of 15 people, 12 of which were from an external company to decommission the old devices, install and setup the new devices and test. We successfully replaced 28 MFD’s in 8 hours and removed a further 4 machines from site. Daily tasks consist of being a liaison with the outsourced technical support team and system analysis roles on the internal GE systems, such as Support Central (a web based application). I manage two modern business apprentices and the departments Intern, providing them with work and mentoring them while they are part of the team. I have also taken on editing and directing roles for two business films promoting the company and its customer relationships, these were both shown at celebration events and also produced onto DVD’s Show less

  I was the responsible manager for the night shift team with 150 personnel reporting into me. My job role included: - Production issues, - HR related queries including payroll and personal issues- Maintenance problems (ranging from lights not working to leaks around the facility)- Second homing of staff that had a light level of work on their section- Meet operational targetsAs my background is IT, I took it upon myself to create a night shift portal during my time rotation. This portal was a one stop shop for everything that both the night shift manager would require and as well as useful links and documents such as self declaration sickness forms for the engineers who worked on the shop floor.
