      After serving as a counselor/video producer at a children’s movie-making camp for six years, promoted to camp director in 2012. Directed five week-long camp sessions each summer. Responsibilities included marketing, enrollment administration, camp leadership, daily video production and posting on YouTube, and staff hiring and management.

      Occupational Therapy Service-Learning in Zacapa, Guatemala

      Selected through a competitive process as one of four first-year students to participate in annual service-learning trip. Prior to trip, attended weekly two-hour meetings for Spanish practice, discussions of cultural competency, presentations on Guatemala and OT-related topics, fundraiser planning and support. While in Guatemala, taught local therapists, parents, and teachers about solutions that can benefit people with disabilities in day-long in-service program. Led treatment sessions with other students and certified OTs.Selected to co-lead a group of 10 OT students on May 2020 service-learning trip. Trip did not occur due to COVID-19 pandemic. Preparation responsibilities included team selection, planning curriculum for weekly meetings, fundraising, and coordination with university leadership. Founded a Spanish Conversation Club for the entire Washington University School of Medicine community.       Developed and implemented a sleep program for women experiencing homelessness. The mixed method pilot study aimed to explore the sleep patterns of women in single rooms at an emergency shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic and examine the effectiveness of occupational therapy (OT) interventions (including group sessions and sleep tools) to address sleep needs. Quantitative sleep data was gathered during the study using Fitbit smartwatches. Qualitative data was gathered through surveys and interviews completed pre- and post-study. Dissemination includes a co-authored chapter for the Encyclopedia of Sleep and Circadian Rhythms on sleep issues in people experiencing homelessness and a co-authored article for the AOTA Mental Health Special Interest Section. Mental, physical, and cognitive health concerns addressed during referral, evaluation, intervention planning, intervention, discharge planning, and follow-up. Used EPIC electronic medical record system after client encounters. Worked with up to 5 clients daily for one-hour sessions addressing home establishment and management, work, functional community mobility, meal preparation and cleanup, safety and emergency maintenance, shopping, health management, sleep, leisure, and social participation.       Completed a 14-week project with rehabilitation therapists and students at a community organization that serves people with disabilities in Mérida, Yucatán, México. Worked to understand the organization through observation, surveys, and interviews. Presented a needs assessment to determine the organization's strengths and learning needs. Proposed evidence-based and occupation-focused pilot program options based on the staff's areas of interest. Piloted a program on sensory integration. Reflected on what academic occupational therapy programs in the United States can learn from a more generalized therapeutic approach. Show less
