  Research Focus: Electrochemical Recovery of Thermal Energy Using Polymer ElectrolytesHaving developed substantial research and theoretical experience in my prior research endeavors, I was able to assume full responsibility of this research project without any graduate student guidance. This individual responsibility had profound effects on my ability to plan, coordinate, and execute complex experiments. It trained my mind to have high level of attention to detail vital to engineering and sharpened the problem-solving skills previously developed during my time in the Marine Corps in new, but equally challenging ways.Tasks & Accomplishments:• Constructed block copolymer electrolyte/Li electrochemical cells and characterized their ability to recover thermal energy via thermodiffusion • Developed unique experimental techniques to accommodate experimental obstacles such as maintaining a controlled temperature gradient across the cells • Used Creo 3D CAD software to design a cooling block to meet the specific experimental setup criteria required • Used Matlab to simultaneously adjust applied temperature gradient and measure the resulting voltage generated across the cell Show less
