      have had some experience in the public sector during a two week internship at Coffs Harbour City Council where I gained some insight into the role of community consultation in planning developments. I met with landowners, developers and business owners to understand their proposed development and potential issues. I developed planning reports which would require me to work closely with a range of technical specialists including architects, building surveyors and urban designers to collect the information needed and get their input.       I completed a 10 week internship at Building Certificates Australia where I worked with the Head Town Planner and gained more interest and experience in stakeholder engagement. In this role, I liaised with developers and Councils face-to-face to discuss the development application with the aim of understanding the proposal and used this information to develop a planning report.

      In this role, Max joined the Community Relations team part way through the project. He is an integral part of the six person team coordinating up to 25,000 notifications distributed per month, up to 3,000 alternative accommodation offers a month and over 1,000 face to face interactions within the community per month across a 35km alignment of night and day road works. He was also part of a team that offered 1200 people alternative accommodation for those potentially affected by the weekend tidal flow Military Road works in which the complaints were effectively managed. Max implemented community relations strategies along with engagement activities which were tailored to both the needs to businesses and residents in order to educate them about construction activities and mitigate impacts wherever possible. He coordinated the preparation and distribution of communications materials, enquiries and complaints from the community. These materials deal with specific construction impacts, traffic changes and parking and bus stop impacts. He acted as a project ambassador, listening and actively engaging with the community, businesses and other key stakeholders as well as liaise with the client to manage complex stakeholder interfaces, community and political expectations.
