      Design Engineer

Lead of test stand team - responsible for development and fabrication of test stands for hybrid rocket motors. In 2014-2015 I built a trailer-based test stand, launch pad, and launch support system for a suborbital rocket. It was successfully used in two full-scale ground tests in 2015 and will be used for launch in 2018.

      Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
      Engineering Intern

Created inventory tracking system for 5S organizational scheme, preventing delays from missing high-pressure components. Assisted engineers with paperwork and drawings, pneumatic system diagrams, process documentation, post-launch operations, and structural disassembly.

      Jun 2015 - Aug 2015
      Engineering Co-op

Performed mechanical design work, made drawings, and assisted with component procurement for small electromechanical devices including prototype optical scanners and freeze dryers

    • Massachusetts Institute of Technology

      Sept 2015 - May 2017
      Research Assistant

I performed my masters thesis research on resource allocation and scheduling for light rail operations on the MBTA Green Line (the busiest light rail system in the country). I used newly available data sources to evaluate current service and future capacity needs for the system, including using SQL to determine running times and throughput, providing longitudinal analysis of previous work. I created a versatile optimization model for vehicle allocation under a variety of service patterns and constraints. I analyzed future vehicle needs, including infrastructure limitations on vehicle characteristics and a preliminary study of off-the-shelf vehicles. Show less

      Jun 2017 - Feb 2018
      Student Design Trainee II

I performed a variety of tasks to support SFMTA's Transit Signal Priority project and their Transit First and Vision Zero initiatives. This included updating traffic signal timing cards to optimize transit signal priority and meet pedestrian safety standards, using Python and Access to perform a longitudinal study of transit signal priority performance on a light rail corridor, and controlling variable message traffic signs.

      Feb 2018 - Aug 2018
      Junior Engineer

I assisted train control technicians with diagnosis and repair of day-to-day and long-term issues with legacy and modern automated train operation systems

    • San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA)

      Nov 2019 - now

As part of the Major Corridors team, I support long-term capital projects and quick-build transit projects. My work includes evaluation of several Temporary Emergency Transit Lane (TETL) corridors, mapping and analysis work for the Geary Boulevard Improvement Project, and mapping and writing work for grant applications. I performed field work and engineering analysis of citizen requests for traffic control device changes including stop signs, crosswalks, daylighting, and parking restrictions. I also modified traffic signal timing cards to implement longer pedestrian countdowns as part of the city’s Vision Zero initiative.
