Composites has shown layered fibrillar arrangement and antibacterial activity without compromising biocompatibility. During my research, i handled cross-linking reaction using as EDC/NHS and glutaraldehyde and performed various charaterizations such as tensile strength measurement, UV-visible spectrophotometer, FTIR, CD, HR-TEM, DSC, TGA, SEM, DLS etc. I also got experience in microbiology experiments to estimate the antimicrobial activity of the scaffold.       I joined CLRI as Junior research fellow in the project entitled "Synthesis and physical characterization of hydroxyapatite based scaffolds". During this research, I got experienced in collagen type I extraction, silver nanoparticles synthesis and biomineralization. I fabricated silver nanoparticles incorporated biomineralized native fibrillar collagen composite by biomimetic method. I also got training in biocompatibility studies, sample preparation for SEM analysis, handling microtome and experienced in sample preparation for tissue embedding, cutting and slicing. I also published this research work as research article in peer reviewed journal. Show less

      I collaborated with Prof. Matthias Epple in a project which was funded by DST-DAAD. I visited Prof. Matthias Epple laboratory as an exchange student for carrying out research work under the project entitled "Development of biomimetic composite scaffolds for tissue regeneration and drug delivery". I fabricated antimicrobial collagen-based composite biomaterial using collagen, chitosan and silver nanoparticles by biomimetic techniques. I also got a training to characterize composites with various characterization techniques, i.e. SEM, EDX, XRD, DSC, TGA, and contact angle measurement. Further, i also published this research work in a joint research article with Prof. Matthias Epple group. Show less

      I had associated with Dr. Mikhael Bechelany as a researcher from Crystal Growth Centre, Anna University, Chennai-25, through joint Indo-French collaborative IFCPAR/CEFIPRA project entitled “Biodegradable core shell electrospun mats and interconnected porous scaffolds for tunable anticancer drug delivery and tissue engineering application”. I got training in fabricating scaffolds using FDM based 3D printer and bioprinter. Under this project, i fabricated antimicrobial 3D scaffold using silver nanoparticles, polycaprolactone and calcium phosphate. Further, i also gained experience in characterizing the materials and handling microbial culture for analyzing antimicrobial activity. I also published this research findings in four scientific publications as one book chapter, one review article and two research articles. Show less
