Lived in primitive field conditions for several weeks at a time with local crew, requiring the ability to work effectively under extremely harsh conditions. Later promoted to QC Seismologist responsible for quality control processing of seismic data on PC-based platforms in Congo, Egypt and Somalia. The remote and isolated nature of the work developed a strong sense self-sufficiency, self-discipline and an ability to interact with fellow expatriate and local indigenous personnel.
