  The practical was focussed on analysis and prediction of the effects on disease-causing mutations in the human genome. To this end, we applied sequence analysis methods and structure prediction methods. We learned theoretical basis of the methods, how to apply them in practice and how to interpret and validate the results. During this period we prepared a research paper »Comparison of sequence-based and structure-based membranedomain families« I had an opportunity to join a research group who worked on molecular chaperone heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90). Hsp90 (heat shock protein 90) is a chaperone protein that assists other proteins to fold properly, stabilizes proteins against heat stress, and aids in protein degradation. It also stabilizes a number of proteins required for tumor growth, which is why Hsp90 inhibitors are investigated as anti-cancer drugs.
