  Residential setting working with young people aged 16-25yrs who were homeless, inappropriately housed or at risk of harm in their current accommodation. My main role was to ensure that young people acquired the skills, knowledge and confidence to access housing and other services and live more independently through individual packages of support, which included help accessing education, employment or training, literacy and numeracy support, confidence building, physical, mental and sexual health, healthy eating, and positive relationships. To ensure tenancy conditions were met I would also undertake routine visits to the properties to ensure they were being maintained to a good standard by the young people.During my first practice learning opportunity I was also able to spend time with the mental health crisis team in Rotherham, where I had the opportunity to complete a Mental Health initial assessment with an AMHP. Other opportunities to observe mental health provisions within different settings also occurred during shadowing experiences, such as in residential care and hospital wards, and Doncaster Prison and magistrates courts with Rotherham’s psychiatric liaison service. Undertaking home visits of children, young people and their parents/carers. Arranging and supervising contact sessions.
