  A summer break saw me joining a team of technicians doing a computer refresh of the IT suite. My team where involved in sorting and unpacking systems, repackaging and redistributing out of date systems, installing the new computers then imaging the drives and configuring the entire setup for each unit. With a working procedure I devised, we as a team where able to cut the projected time for the entire project down by almost 15%. In doing this, I was able to also assist in maintaining the server rooms and the IT infrastructure within the college. Show less

  Bristol based construction consultancy. While producing the required 2D plans, my 3D modelling skills enabled the company to win several large contracts for developments of over 6 figures. The IT support I provided within the satellite, Warrington office also produced both time and monetary savings by not requiring the IT support team to visit from their Birmingham office. With some remote assistance to the IT team in Birmingham, as a group, we where able to optimize the company servers in the 3 major offices and all 5 of the satellite offices by using my AutoCAD knowledge to reduce the file sizes of the CAD drawings by as much as 1200% (from around 5MiB to around 300kiB). This in turn, not only saved the company having to purchase new server hardware but saved time when cross checking drawings between offices and helped them to reduce outgoings from each site.   12 months full time employment with this multidisciplinary facilities management firm. Originally employed as a CAD Operator and surveyor but my skills enabled me to help in the following ways:Drafting building regs. and planning app. drawings, as installed drawings and also modifying site plans on 2 BAE Systems Aerodromes. This involves site surveys, upfront design and then producing drawings in Bentley Powerdraft and AutoCAD Drawings range from furniture layouts, electrical diagrams, mechanical service diagrams (HVAC & Compressed Air), down to basic services (water, foul, power) and even as far as structural and foundation drawings and plans for large fabrication machineryDeveloping Microsoft SharePoint services, a custom built electronic ordering system (based on Access databases) and InfoPath forms linked to a project information database for recording project progress. Single handed, I was able to set the systems up at the two major sites and link them together via the existing VPN. This enabled the engineers to migrate data for all jobs and reduced the redundant data between the servers and also the paper filing needed.General IT maintenance, server maintenance and IT consultancy.
