      Provide strategic leadership and academic quality improvement to drive Center to new heights in reputation and influence, as evidenced by dramatic increases in funding, publications, and faculty development. Center currently includes a staff and faculty of 50 highly skilled interdisciplinary professionals (internists, cardiologists, psychologists, exercise physiologists, and quantitative faculty) engaged in more than 20 different interdisciplinary grant-funded research studies investigating 1) the behavioral and biological factors that explain the relationship between depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and cardiovascular disease, 2) the science of health behavior change, 3) the psychosocial factors and biological mechanisms that contribute to hypertension, 4) alternative approaches to diagnosing and treating hypertension, and 5) optimal patient-centered hospital environments and operations. Center currently publishes 1 peer-reviewed article every 3 days, and submits 14-21 NIH grants per year. Show less
