Aim of this internship was to gain work experience in the laboratory of an international renowned research institute. Part of the work I have done during this internship is published in Biological Invasions, a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

  Final grade: 8 (80/100%)Thesis: Characterisation of glucocorticoid resistant zebrafish mutant.The research of my MSc thesis, I have performed at the department of Molecular Cell Biology of the Institute of Biology Leiden (IBL). Aim of the research was to unravel new genes, which are involved in Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal axis (HPA-axis) related glucocorticoid resistance. During the research, I have worked on the characterisation of glucocorticoid resistant zebrafish mutant lines. This characterisation was done by intensive use of both molecular biological tools and microscopic imaging techniques. Show less

In Matre in gained besides experience in aquaculture related research, intensive hand-on experience on a aquaculture farm. Kevin Glover. As laboratory technician I have been responsible for genotyping samples of two different projects. Show less As a summer job I was recruited based on previous experience as a laboratory technician in the high-throughput molecular laboratory of the Population Genetics and Ecology group of the institute. Here, I have worked both independently and together with colleagues. My main task was to genotype Atlantic salmon DNA samples of two project. Genotyping was done based on microsatellite marker. Roughly seen, the procedure consisted of DNA isolation, DNA amplification (PCR) and sequence analysis by using an ABI Analyer and Genemapper software. Show less

  Als projectmanager heb ik leiding gegeven aan een deel van de bouwwerkzaamheden tijdens de uitbreiding van The Kingfish Company op het bedrijfsterrein in Kats, Nederland. Ik was betrokken bij de coördinatie van een groot gedeelte van de bouwactiviteiten voor de nieuwbouw van de nieuwe grow out faciliteiten. Daarnaast was ik projectleider bij de bouw van de nieuwe hatchery. Dit project heb ik nagenoeg vanaf het begin af aan begeleid van inventarisatie van wensen eindgebruiker naar civiel ontwerp, opmaken bestek, enginering installaties, inkoop installaties, afstemmen planning met hoofdaannemer, plannen en coördineren installatie activiteiten onderaannemers en eigen installatieteams en kwaliteitscontrole op locatie. De totale waarde van het uitgevoerde werk in mijn portefeuille lag tussen de €20-30 miljoen.
