      Established the station’s and then the UK's first sales promotions department as a profit centre, responsible for identifying and developing new revenue streams whilst promoting the stations awareness to the potential audience and advertisers. Negotiated major innovative sponsorship and promotions deals (prior to permissible on-air credits) e.g. with a major oil company to provide car stickers, distribution and prizes for the Mobil Car Sticker Promotion. Again with the support of a leading fashion chain to deliver the largest single viewing area spectator event in the UK that year; The1985 Top Shop Firework Display on Newcastle Quayside.Responsible for the stations live music budget, worked with major venues, record companies, artist management and promoters to stage live music events across all musical genders from 'battle of the band' style competitions and the legendary Lindisfarne Christmas Shows at Newcastle City Hall over 12 consecutive nights, through to major outdoor gigs such as Bob Dylan at St James' Park.       Initiated and organised a high profile campaign resisting a bid to takeover Scottish & Newcastle Breweries from Australian drinks giant Elders. Secured celebrity endorsement and commissioned a protest song written and performed by Alan Hull of North East legendary folk/rock band Lindisfarne. This was supported by the supply of pre-recorded radio style music programmes interspersed with personality endorsements of S&N played in 2,500 premises.
