      Research Assistant

I wear many hats as a research assistant at UBC. I am currently working on manufacturing graphene thin film deposition system. I am going to apply this process to both sensor manufacturing and solid lubrication. More specifically, I am working with Emergco to produce specialized strain gauges for ultra flexible substrates. In addition, I am collaborating with Kamloops Precision Machining Ltd to produce a solid lubricant out of the graphene thin film. I will test both the tribological and wear characteristics of the graphene solid lubricant. I am also working on developing a water based graphene oxide lubricant in collaboration with MacLachlan Group from chemistry department at UBC. I will be conducting the tribological, rheological, and wear characteristics of this wet lubricant. Show less

      Sept 2016 - Dec 2016
      Electronic Engineer

I designed a chemical (in the gaseous phase) and radiation detection sensors module that will be integrated into a drone for remote sensing. This technology will be used to give first responders remote sensing capabilities when addressing disasters around chemical spills.I was responsible for sourcing the sensors for the different chemicals. I also designed and built the electronic circuitry and control systems for the sensor module. In addition, I implemented the communication between the sensor board and the drone's telemetry system. Lastly, I was responsible for drafting a calibration protocol for the different sensors. Show less

      PHD Candidate

I am a PhD candidate working at the UBC mechanical engineering Aerosol lab. I am currently developing a sensitive and selective laser based sensor for the detection of Methane at levels of 1 to sub ppm concentrations. We have built a larger prototype, based on wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS), displayed in some of the Figures shown in my introduction section. I plan on miniaturizing the sensor and making it more sensitive, using the photo-acoustic effect. It will allow for shorter sensor path length, higher sensitivities, and overall smaller sensor packaging. We have used our first larger WMS sensor to measure Methane emissions from different LNG based engines. One of these engines was a new dual fuel LNG powered ferry.I am also working on developing a quadcopter based wind measurement sensor. The wind sensor and miniaturized Methane sensor will work together on a quadcopter platform, and allow for the measurement of Methane emission fluxes from oil and gas operated flares. Show less

      Co-founder, Research & Development

I am a co-founder of BarrelWise. At BarrelWise I am responsible for testing of our product for wine compatibility. I am also working on developing a bench-top free SO2 sensor for our flagship product. On the managerial side I am lead on the Non-dilutive fund raising. Lastly, I lead any sensor relate aspects on our flagship product.
