  Responsible for performing a feasibility study on renewable and alternative energy sources in poorly developed African countries with weak utility networks. Also, responsible for assisting with a power factor correction (PFC) control system design utilising a Siemens S7-1200 PLC. In addition to the above-mentioned, a four-week stint enabled me to gain exposure and assist with commissioning at the Tweefontein coal mine in central South Africa.   Core job functions include consulting to the operations departments on short and medium-term technical challenges and conducting in-depth research on various technologies and equipment that reduces network operating costs, improves network safety and reduce SAIDI and SAIFI on the utility’s distribution network. Additional job functions include assisting with new high voltage substation designs and investigation of insulation related problems on the distribution network.
