Lead the teams for the State's Enterprise Content Management platform, Oracle reporting platform, and Application Performance Monitoring platforms. This includes overseeing the technical day to day work and operations of those teams, mentoring team members, implementing new features and projects, resolving impediments for the team and users, working with vendors on new releases and functionality, and improving/automating our processes. In 2023, I received the Excellence in Leadership award and an admiralship in the Nebraska Navy for my work done in automating functionality at the OCIO and the development and implementation of performance monitoring tools allowing us to shift to a more proactive role in resolving issues instead of waiting for users to be impacted.I designed and built our teams CI/CD process from the ground up. This shortened our development lifecycle by weeks, improved our security posture, and lowered the risk of errors all at the same time. Changes are automatically scanned for vulnerabilities and issues before being deployed in our test environment or production environment. Deployment to our test environment was shortened from 3-7 days to about 15 minutes after approval, and deployment to our production environment was shortened from 2 weeks to 1 day after approval.Working with Oracle engineers I built the State of Nebraska's Oracle Cloud network and led the effort to migrate the Oracle Reporting platform to the new network from an on-premises setup. This included setting up the virtual cloud network, firewalls, DNS, SSO, and application configuration. Show less Worked on the hosting and upgrade team for the State's Enterprise Content Management platform. Primarily worked on enterprise level changes and programs in support of this platform including monitoring tools and dashboards, integrations with third party systems, and system upgrades of the software. This work spanned all phases of the software development lifecycle from planning and design to implementation, testing, and release.I designed and built our team’s first web service to connect the Enterprise Content Management system to a third-party platform. This allowed us to shift from developing integrations as windows services to web services allowing for easier integrations, better security, and faster development. Configured and deployed our first source code scanning tool to better secure our environment and improve the maintainability of our code base across 25 websites.Implemented an emergency upgrade on all our environments in response to multiple vulnerabilities that were released. In 1 month, our team upgraded the software on 150 servers, spread across two production environments, 2 testing environments, and about 30 development environments. This included all the installations, configuration, and testing for the upgrade along with coordinating this change across 25 government agencies. Show less Worked on one of the development teams and then the hosting and upgrade team for the States Enterprise Content Management Platform. My regular duties included working with end users on gathering requirements and testing, building out new solutions, answering support tickets, and maintaining our environments and servers.Performed the analysis and work to transfer our project management tool from Rally to Azure DevOps including setting up the base structure in Azure, exporting current and historical data from Rally, importing everything into Azure, and setting up the necessary permissions. This saved our team $60,000 a year in licensing costs. I also transferred all our source code management from Team Foundation Server to Azure DevOps to provide easier access for all team members and combine tools and lower costs.Brought the development of integrations to 3rd party systems and our system in house by building a framework to allow easier future development of these integrations and wrote a best practices document to follow. This allowed our users to save additional money each year by not having to pay licensing costs for our vendor’s solution.Developed the redundant architecture for our Enterprise Content Management platform allowing us to take advantage of both data centers the State has and provide the most uptime for all users. This architecture change allowed us to exceed our goal of 99.95% uptime by reaching an average yearly uptime of 99.99%. Show less
