Gotcha is a human library designed for students from classes 6th to 10th, giving them the opportunity to interact with top professionals across various industries. From neuroscientists and archaeologists to IAS officers, we connected students with experts in their favorite subjects, offering them real-world insights into how these subjects shape the foundation of diverse career paths. The initiative aimed to expand students' awareness beyond the traditional professions they typically encounter, opening their eyes to a wide array of career possibilities. Gotcha was a 4-year-long project born during my undergrad days, where I struggled to find direction beyond conventional courses like CA or CMA. In one of the Gotcha sessions with a brand manager, I figured out my calling for branding and marketing, which ultimately led me to start True Umami, a creative agency that now serves India's biggest brands. Apr 2017 - May 2017
      Finance Intern

I did my life's first-ever internship here as a Finance trainee. Ritz Carlton had no history of taking finance trainees so it was a big task to get in here. I had to make our HOD mail their HR for approval, then I had to ask him to follow up so that we could get some reply. The hotel's requirement was they wanted to interview at least 10 candidates to finalise a trainee. So I had to convince my professors to have an introductory session about Ritz Carlton so that people could apply for the internship. To my shock, 20 candidates applied making my chances of getting in 1/20. Luckily I got selected to be the first finance intern ever at the Ritz Carlton, Bangalore. Now, why was I so desperate to get an internship here? It was food. I always wanted to work in a 5-star property to enjoy their pantry. The food was amazing, work was boring. This one-month internship made me realise 2 things- 1) Finance is not for me 2) I can not sit for 8 hours straight doing the same thing. This internship is one of the reasons I didn't sit for placements in my college. Show less

      Freelance Copywriter

I have always been a writer so this job was very quick to pick for me. I used to write Sales pages and Emails for Coaches from the Middle East, the UK, Canada and the United States. This stint gave me a good insight into the copywriting business.

We make ads that have 3 non-negotiables > The ads are different and not what the buyers are accustomed to. We create ads to build Brand Identity/Recall> Our ads convert> Our Ads either make the viewer smile or learn. We don't like 0 impact work. You can ask our friends at Perfora, Wellbeing Nutrition, Panchamrit, Myfitness... visit trueumami.com for more. For the back story - read further. Finally a CEO with a brilliant team. After working for different sets of businesses in different capacities, I started an agency with my cofounder Siddharth Krishnan. We did everything possible under the marketing domain but not with our names attached to it but True Umami's. That was our first step to form an Agency. Gradually with the money we earned, we built a team capable of anything and everything the client requested. We became a full stack agency. Now, we had all the talent and a bit of SOPs, so Siddharth and I sat and chose what we wanted to do with True Umami. We listed down things we expected out of our agency. They were:-> A service with clear KPI for the client > A service that impacts the revenue directly> A service that can be put as retainers for at least 3 monthsThe exact service that matched our checklist was- Ad creation for brands - and that's how we finalised what we wanted to do with all the talent and systems we built. So, this is our one liner for True Umami -We make performance ads for D2C brands and SAAS businesses with actionable KPIs impacting revenue and almost every time we end up working with them for more than 3 months. Our client retention is through the roof. Show less
