Following the departure of the previous Door Supervisor in December 2018, I began researching the role and expectations. I passed the exams and physical intervention tests on my first attempt and received my license in late March. Within the role I have encountered a handful of challenges from both members of the public and hotel guests, and have always sought to bring about a peaceful resolution. Where a firmer hand was required, I have maintained a high level of professionalism. I always ensure that Incident reporting is kept to a high standard, capturing as much information as possible, and have been sure to follow up on incidents where required. I have assisted in various first aid situations, fire inspection/evacuations and police attendances, even before my time as the on site security. Show less Began as a member of the night shift reception team working within a team of 4. Following the departure of 2 members of staff, including the previous Team Leader, I helped facilitate the hiring of a new member for the Door Supervisor position and was subsequently fast tracked to take over as the department head within 2 months of employment. During my time as Team Leader, I have been responsible for the hiring and training of several members of the team, as well as the implementation of new training practices for said team.In December 2018 our Door Supervisor opted to leave the position, prompting myself to begin looking into the role. As of March 2019 I have been officially licensed as a Door Supervisor and took over the position myself. As part of my duties within the role, I attend Hotel Watch meetings (a branch of the Pub Watch scheme) and have created and implemented a contact system currently gaining traction within the Newcastle City hotels whereby hotels are able to alert each other at once as to troublesome guests. As of June, there are 15 different hotels operating within the city limits who are enrolled onto the system, making regular use of it. Show less
