  SHARES Lancashire Ltd is the ‘not for profit’ company set up by the Skelmersdale and Upholland Primary Schools to provide a wide range of support services to schools at a time when other, statutory support is diminishing. The company also aims to enhance the opportunities open to the pupils of the Primary Schools and their wider families with the overall objective of ‘Raising Educational Standards’ across the locality.The company was set up to meet the common aims and objectives of the Head teachers cluster group from which it has emerged. The local Primary Schools have a history of working collaboratively and through this have been able to enhance their schools through the sharing of good practice, pooling resources and working together to achieve success.In January 2010 the company was formed and the first appointments were made and in post for May 2010. Since then the company has expanded significantly to provide an array of services and opportunities not only to the schools within the SHARES cluster but also to other schools across the North West and beyond.We have created a new strand to the service of creating an elite pool of supply staff that the schools can call upon for absences within schools. The service is to create job opportunities for the local teachers, and ensure that skelmersdale and up-holland schools achieve their goals of raising standards within Education.
