      The Brueggeman fellowship consists of a year of independent research in an area of interest. My research is on the grassroots empowerment of women, and its impact on changing communities. I am currently buidling networks and planning trips to Kabingo (Uganda), Senegal, and Nigeria. A Job at the welcome desk consists of answering all the phone calls directed at the university and redirecting those calls. I also give directions to students and visitors and make sure the student building is a conducive and welcoming environment for everybody. Every year, 8 community engaged fellows are chosen from each class. As a fellow, I engage with Xavier and our surrounding communities of Avondale, Evanston, and Norwood by doing 10 hours of service every week. Service and the community engaged fellowship has given me the opportunity to create lifelong relationships and learn invaluable lessons. As a resident assistant, I am a community builder for my residents. I create programs, make boards and door decorations, enforce policy, and create a conducive environment for my residents.
