    • Melbry Events/Wish4ticket.com

      Nov 2011 - Dec 2012
      Customer Assistant/Performer

This role saw me in a fast-paced festive environment. I had to portray an “elf” style character and dress up to form part of a small team of people running a children’s Christmas grotto and Cinema. Whilst I worked there I had to help wherever possible, which meant I had to be adaptable and prepared to change task regularly. My primary task for this role was the selling of merchandise and tickets, which involved me dealing with customer enquiries and offering customers package solutions to the products they desired. I also had to ensure young visitors remained entertained at peak times, where there may have been delays and to ensure they enjoyed their experience. The experience also featured a 3D cinema, which I had to maintain and prepare ready for each show, which was approximately three per hour. I used the photography equipment to take photographs of children during the experience. I worked for Melbury Events for 2 seasons. Show less

Student Ambassador / Student Champion / Workshop Co-Ordinator and Peer Mentor

Throughout my degree my University offered me a variety of opportunities, to support current students and interact with prospective students. As a Student Ambassador I gave prospective students tours of the campus and offered an insight into the life of a University student, whilst answering any questions from students or their families. In addition, I visited a local primary school, where pupils were partaking in the Lego league. I supported with the process and helped a small team of pupils to come up with an idea to be submitted for their school. In the final two stages of my degree I worked as a workshop co-ordinator. This involved creating, timetabling and managing workshops for lower stage students, where they were able to get support and guidance from higher stage students (including myself). The purpose of this was to aid with their coursework and general studies. Finally as a Student Champion, I supported the University during the graduation ceremonies. I welcomed guests and answered any queries students and families had regarding the day. Show less

At Priestfield Stadium, I was a general assistant in the food and drink areas. At each of Gillingham FC’s home games, I worked as part of a team serving spectators food and drink (including alcoholic beverages). My role primarily saw me at the front end of the area. I had to deal with difficult customers and their enquiries, fetch the food and drink they ordered and ensured the workspace was clean and tidy.

    • Britannia Refined Metals Ltd.

      Sept 2014 - Aug 2015
      Programmer/Technical Support

As part of my degree, I was required to take on a placement in industry for one year. I worked at Britannia Refined Metals where my role was split. 50% of the role saw me programming using CL (Control Language), RPG, RPG Free and the typical web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). I built programs using IBM’s IceBreak, which allows users to build web applications on the AS/400 platform. These web applications were typically reports that manipulated the refinery’s data. I worked on a project, where I redesigned a Strategi contract management system and created it using IceBreak. The other 50% of this role was more technical and saw me form part of the Computing Department’s helpdesk. I answered the telephone to colleagues and assisted them with their computer issues. This could have been as simple as resetting a password or could have been more technical. The issues could be resolved remotely or by visiting them in person. I also completed a variety of computer maintenance tasks to support the Technical Analyst, for example I wiped disused towers and Laptops and reinstalled Windows 7, so they can be used elsewhere.
