Working with the IT Division Officer at ESU Alameda gave me the opportunity to directly impact our customer service objective for over 7000 users. I improved work-flow processes for approving configuration change requests by creating and enforcing specific, written guidelines for our three technicians after reviewing Coast Guard policy. Customer satisfaction was improved once my efforts positively impacted the testing and approval process. As the Assistant to both the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer I supervised a division of two persons and ensured all hands (171 military members and civilians) complied with the Commandant and local Command policies. Additionally, I routinely completed ad hoc tasks as assigned by my supervisors in a timely fashion and of superior quality. Show less While assigned to CGC Morgenthau I served in different leadership positions including collateral duties such as Civil Rights Officer, Urinalysis Officer, Ship Store Officer, Community Relations Officer and Boarding Officer. My primary duty as an Inport and Underway Deck Watch Officer was to ensure the safety and security of the ship both in port and while at sea. On numerous occasions I demonstrated superior ship driving skills navigating through challenging environments such as the Panama Canal and the second largest shipping port in the world, Singapore. Additionally I was consecutively assigned to serve as as the division officer for the Fire Control DIvision and then the Navigation Division. I was responsible for up to seven personnel, overseeing their timely execution of routine tasks and maintenance, and consequently evaluating them on their performance. While in the role of Assistant Navigator I also conducted voyage planning and verified the qualifications of all deck hands. Show less
