      As the Telecommunications Systems Manager I, Specialist, in the Emerging Technologies Unit, I was responsible for researching, purchasing radio communications equipment, training dispatch staff on the use of new equipment, and assisted in the implementation of the California Highway Patrol's (CHP) role in the AMBER Alert program. Assisted in the implementation of the CHP’s Radio Communications Interoperability Program, attempted to work closely to coordinate with local, state and federal public safety agencies to establish protocols with the newly acquired ACU-1000 interoperability equipment. Reviewed and updated the CHP’s Operations Manuals relating to general radio use and dispatch protocols, conducted legislative bill analyses, research, analyzed and made recommendations to management on new technology trends and other secure wireless applications. Provided technical assistance to the field regarding telephone system installations and trouble-shooting measures; assisted in the development of the CHP’s radio system infrastructure replacement program (CHPERS), and provided assistance in successfully obtaining funding ($500million BCP) for the CHP to move forward with the infrastructure replacement program. This included meeting all budgetary requirements; assisted in the development of standard design guidelines for new CHP field and dispatch offices. Reviewed blueprints and provided guidance to the Facilities Section on matters relating to telecommunications (voice, data & radio) requirements. Responsible for representing the Department of the California Highway Patrol as a Technical Working Group member of the Public Safety Radio Strategic Planning Committee (PSRSPC). Show less

      Retired from the State of California, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) as a Data Processing Manager I of the Radio Communications and Support Unit (RCSU). As the Manager of the RCSU, primary responsibility for managing three technical staff and developing the Unit's Annual Radio Replacement budget and preparation of the annual Budget Change Proposals. Provided technical expertise and guidance to three staff: Staff Information Systems Analyst, and two Associate Information Systems Analysts, as well as Executive-level staff. I was responsible for reviewing and updating the Department’s Operations Manual, conducted legislative bill analyses, researched, analyzed and made recommendations to management on new technology trends and other secure wireless applications (i.e., Radio-over IP and other two-way public safety radio protocols). Assisted with the development and implementation of a Request for Proposal to address CDCR's statewide radio communications infrastructure replacement and equipment purchase following general state administrative and budgetary procedures and practices, and initiated procedures relating the establishing new or renewing frequency use agreements consistent with rules and regulations established by the Federal Communications Commission and the newly-approved radio communications oversight policy. Also responsible for representing the CDCR at various interoperable communications forums, including the California State Interoperability Executive Committee (CalSIEC). Proudly served as an active Board Member of the Northern California Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (No, CA APCO) since 2006, serving on the Executive Board as the Chapter Secretary from 2013 to 2018.
